About Mike & Lincoln

Mike Mongo is from Key West. He arrived in the Florida Keys in 1965, at the age of three months and spent the first years of his life in Marathon where his mom took him daily to the beach. His first trips to Key West were accompanying his grandfather Walter ‘Tete’ Newcomb, who would often come to Key West to box, drink and ‘play numbers’ (although not necessarily in that order).  He is proud Conch Republican, eighth-generation Floridian, and a native son of the shore.

Lincoln Thompson is a native Jamaican and alumni of Brampton Primary who presently lives and works in Key West. His wife is Mrs. Camiel West-Thompson, principal of Brampton Primary. He is the father of Camielia Thompson and Kyrell Thompson, and step-father to Shamar Forbes. This project would not happen in Jamaica without him. He is a true Jamaican and native son of the soil.

Mike came up to Key Largo and shared his story with the Upper Keys Mac User Group. What an interesting man and a touching story! Hello to the kids in Brampton Primary School… I know you don’t have internet access yet, but some day you will read this! You have friends you don’t even know in Key Largo, Florida, USA.
